In 1922, famous Indian film actor Dilip Kumar was born in the house near the Kiss-Havani bazaar. The family of another famous actor Shahrukh Khan still lives in this suburb.

On April 23, 1930, about 400 unarmed protestors from Kiss-Havani were shot by soldiers of the British colonial government. This event went down in history as the “Slaughter on Kiss-Hwani Square”. The brutal massacre of civilians led to mass protests throughout the territory of British India, which strengthened the position of the recently formed national movement " Khuday Khidmatgaran ".

In 2010, 25 people died in a bomb blast to protest the lack of electricity. The market was again targeted by militants in 2013, when 41 people died from an explosion of two hundred and twenty kilograms of bomb. The explosion also led to destruction in a nearby mosque, and the fire started destroying several historic wooden buildings.
