Biography
Since 1885 he studied at a theological seminary, at the end of which he was ordained a priest (1894). In 1888-1890 studied philosophy and theology at the University of Malta .
He worked as a teacher of Italian, Latin, English, arithmetic, geography, cosmography, church history and Christian archeology. He was later an assistant librarian at the National Maltese Library . Since 1923 - Director of Mobile Libraries, a position he held until his retirement in 1936.
Creativity
Dun Karm is Malta's national classic.
He originally wrote lyric poems in Italian , and since 1912 - in Maltese .
In 1912, he published his first poem in the Maltese edition of Quddiem Xbieha tal-Madonna .
In subsequent years, a number of collections of his poems were published in print, which gained great popularity and recognition in Malta.
The author of the words of the national anthem of Malta , to the music of the composer Robert Samut , first performed on February 3, 1923. In 1945, he became the official national anthem of Malta.
In recognition of his contribution to Maltese literature, Dun Karm Psaila was awarded the title of honoris causa of the Royal University of Malta in 1945, becoming the first honorary doctor of this university. A year later, he was awarded the gold medal of Mushit Azstopardi. Queen Elizabeth II in 1956 awarded him the Commander Order of the British Empire . In 1957, the Maltese government granted him an ex-gratia pension in recognition of his contribution to Malta literature.
Dun Karm Psaila was recognized as the " bard of Malta", "the greatest poet in the history of Malta" [2] , and also received the title of national poet of Malta.

- In the city of Floriana , Malta , a monument was erected to him.
- On February 1, 2013, the Central Bank of Malta issued two Dun Karm Psaila coins (made of silver and gold) dedicated to the author of the national anthem L – Innu Malti [3] .
- Depicted on a Maltese postage stamp 1971.
