Orakzai, Ali Jan

In 1967 he graduated from the Military Academy of Pakistan , and then enlisted in the 14th battalion of the Border Regiment of the Armed Forces of Pakistan . Already being a major general, he held the post of commander of the Pakistani army in Gilgit-Baltistan , from October 2001 to March 2004 he was commander of the Eleventh Corps of the Armed Forces of Pakistan. In March 2004, retired from military service with the rank of lieutenant general ^[1] .

In March 2005, he was appointed Minister of Defense of Pakistan. In May 2005, he signed a memorandum on the development of cooperation in the defense field with the representative of Great Britain Kevin Tebbitom ^{[2] [3]} . On May 23, 2006, he was removed from the post of Minister of Defense Industry ^[4] and was appointed Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province . While in this position he managed to conclude a truce with representatives of the radical movement Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan . In July 2007, there was a major armed conflict between the government of Pakistan and the radical elements in the Las Masjid mosque . After that, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the conflict broke out with renewed vigor and Ali Jan Orakzai was dismissed on January 7, 2008 ^[5] .
