Biography
Born July 14, 1959 in the Pakistani city of Peshawar . In 1981, he entered the service of the Pakistani police , rose to the rank of police chief Peshawar. In 1997, in a shootout with militants, he was shot in the shoulder. In December 2009, he was appointed commander of the border police of Pakistan, a paramilitary formation of the federal subordination, which performs the function of monitoring compliance with the law and order in the border zone [1] .
On August 4, 2010, an assassination attempt was committed on Safat Gayur in Peshawar. The suicide bomber blew himself up at the moment when Gayur was leaving work in his car. As a result of the attack, Safvat Gayyur and a casual passerby died on the spot, two more citizens died later in the hospital. The explosion used eight kilograms of explosives, the torn head of a suicide bomber was found about 20 feet from the blown up vehicle of Safvat Gayur [2] .
On August 5, 2010, Safvat Gayyur was buried, a day of mourning was declared in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province . The funeral was attended by Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Owais Ahmed Gani [3] .
