History
The theater is named after the hospitalier Antonio Manuel de Villena , who ordered the construction in 1731. [2] . Manoel Theater is the third oldest theater in Europe and the oldest operating theater in the Commonwealth of Nations .
The theater is the home stage of the Maltese Philharmonic Orchestra .
