Biography
He was born on October 19, 1954 in Omsk [1] .
In 1976 - graduated from the geological and geophysical department of the Novosibirsk State University [1] .
From 1976 to 1980 he was an engineer at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences [1] .
From 1980 to 1991, he worked at the Buryat Geological Institute of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences , going from junior researcher to the head of the laboratory (1988-1991) [1] .
From 1991 to 2011 - Head of the Laboratory of Paleogeodynamics, and from 1998 to 2011 - Director of the Institute of the Earth's Crust, SB RAS [2] .
In 1997, he was elected Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] .
In 2004 he was awarded the title of professor [1] .
From 2011 to the present - Chief Researcher at the Institute of the Earth's Crust, SB RAS [2] .
Since 1993 she has been teaching at Irkutsk State University [1] .
Scientific activities [1]
He revealed two glauco-slang belts and established the regularities of the composition and structure of the high-pressure belts of Central Asia, the distribution of ophiolites and the complex of metamorphic nuclei of southern Siberia.
The results of his research are important for the reconstruction of the geodynamic evolution of the Central Asian fold belt, including the solution of the problem of time and the mechanism of discovery of ancient oceans, in particular the Paleo-Asian ocean. Revised the nature of the tectonic evolution of the region, justifying the most significant stages of the evolution of the southern part of the Siberian Craton on the basis of petrological indicators.
Under his leadership, studies of complexes of metamorphic nuclei, first described in the western part of North America, were carried out; their selection and study turned out to be extremely important for the reconstruction of the geological evolution of the continents. He is the co-author of the discovery and description of six new minerals, some of which belong to the rock-forming groups: natalite - vanadium pyroxene, magnesiocoulsonite - vanadium analogue magnesiochronime and chromphyllite - chromic dioactahedral mica.
Participated in international research projects: with Changchun University of Earth Sciences, Peking University (PRC) on problems of high barometric metamorphism and tectonics of East Asia, University of Sapporo (Japan) on tectonics of the Mongol-Okhotsk belt, with Stanford University (USA) on compiling a geodynamic map Paleo-Asiatic Ocean, with the Royal Museum of Central Africa (Belgium) on the problems of high-pressure metamorphism and complexes of metamorphic nuclei.
