Harrison James “Harry” Chapman ( born Harrison James Chapman ; born November 5, 1997 , Hartlepool ) is an English footballer attacking the Blackburn Rovers club midfielder . 2017 world champion in the age category under 20 years.

Club career

Middlesbrough

Harry started playing football at the age of 7 at the Middlesbrough Academy. In January 2015, he signed his first professional contract with the club.

As part of the Middlesbrough youth team (under 19 years old), Harry took part in the 2015/16 UEFA Youth League , playing in 6 meetings, in which he scored 8 assists, becoming the best by this indicator in the tournament [1] .

In the summer of 2015 and 2017, he went through pre-season training with the Middlesbrough main team and took part in friendly games. On August 14, 2018 he made his debut in official matches for “rivermen” in the match of the 1st round of the League Cup against “ Notts County ” (3: 3) [2] .

Rentals at Barnsley

On February 26, 2016, on loan until the end of the season, Harry joined Barnsley , playing in League One [3] . He made his debut on February 27 in a guest match against Crew Alexander (2: 1). On March 5, Chapman scored his first goal on a professional level, distinguishing himself in a meeting against Wallsall (3: 1) [4] .

On April 3, Harry was replaced in the final match of the Football League Trophy against Oxford United , in which his team won with a score of 3: 2 [5] . Also, Chapman helped Barnsley win the League One playoffs and enter the Championship .

Sheffield United Rentals

On August 12, 2016, on a seasonal rental basis, Harry moved to another League One club - Sheffield United [6] . September 27, scored the first goal for United in a home game against Bristol Rovers and brought his team a minimal victory (1: 0). On November 6, Chapman scored a hat-trick in the 1st round match of the FA Cup against Leighton Orient [7] .

Due to an ankle injury, Harry missed 4 months and in the 2016/17 season he only played in 14 matches for the “blades”, but at the same time became the winner of League One.

Blackburn Rovers

On August 4, 2017, on a seasonal rental basis, he moved to Blackburn Rovers [8] . He made his debut on August 6 in an away game against Southend United , replacing Elliott Bennett in the 74th minute [9] . September 26 in the home game against Rotherham United scored the first goal of the Rovers [10] . In November 2017, he received a hamstring injury and underwent surgery. Having barely recovered from the injury, a relapse occurred in March 2018, and Chapman dropped out before the end of the season [11] .

After spending the first half of the 2018/19 season at Middlesbrough, on January 28, 2019, Harry permanently moved to Blackburn Rovers, signing a 2.5-year contract [12] .

Team Career

In 2015, he was first called up to the England youth team (before 18) , in which he debuted on March 26 in a friendly game against peers from Switzerland (1: 0).

In the summer of 2017, as part of the England national team (under 20), Chapman participated in the 2017 Youth World Championship , where he played in two meetings (against Guinea and Costa Rica) and helped his team become a champion [13] .
