Yurkevich, Nikolay Grigoryevich

He was a member of the Great Patriotic War . In 1946-1950 - Student of the Minsk Law Institute . In 1953 - graduated from graduate school at this institute. From the same year he worked at the Minsk Law Institute , and after its transformation into a faculty - at the Law Faculty of the Belarusian State University . In 1955, Mr .. successfully defended his thesis on "The legal capacity of a citizen of the USSR in Soviet civil law." He received the academic title “ Associate Professor ” in 1959, and “ Professor ” in 1970. In 1968 he defended his doctoral dissertation on “Marriage and its Legal Regulation in the USSR”. 1974-1994 - Head of the Department of Civil Procedure and Labor Law. In 1994, became a professor in the same department. Nikolay Grigoryevich was in charge of organizing the International Arbitration Court at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has headed it since its inception in April 1994. He was also the editor-in-chief of the journal Industrial and Commercial Law, which he created in 1996.

He died on December 3, 2017 at the 90th year of his life.

Professor N. G. Yurkevich was the chairman of the Council for the defense of dissertations of the Belarusian State University (currently - deputy chairman), and also a member of other councils. He took an active part in the legislative work . He was part of the group that developed the draft Constitution of the Republic of Belarus in 1994 . He developed the concept of a new Civil Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus. Under his leadership, the original texts of the draft new Code of Civil Procedure of the Republic of Belarus and the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus of July 9, 1999 "On the International Arbitration (Arbitration) Court" were also developed.

Nikolai Grigorievich has 186 major scientific works (more than 200 in total), including 7 monographs and 10 collective books published under his editorship and with his participation, on the problems of family sociology , family law , and civil procedural law . He pays a lot of attention to the preparation of publications intended for everyday use by lawyers-practitioners of the republic. In particular, under his editorship and with significant participation in 1980, he published the Commentary on the Code on Marriage and the Family of the Belorussian USSR (second edition in 1990), and in 1989 (co-editor V. G. Tikhin) - "Scientific and practical commentary on the Civil Procedure Code of the Belarusian SSR."
