Temnothorax jailensis

Temnothorax jailensis (lat.) - a species of small ants of the tribe Formicoxenini from the subfamily Myrmicinae of the family Formicidae . Found in eastern Europe : endemic of the mountainous Crimea . Small reddish-brown ants (workers 2-3 mm, females about 5 mm). Propodeal spines on metatarsal developed. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, pupae are naked (without cocoon). Mountain forests at an altitude of 600-900 m, nests in wood. The species was first described in 1977 by the Soviet worldmecologist Konstantin Vladimirovich Arnoldi based on materials collected by him in the mountain Crimea in 1947 [2] [3] .
