Biography
Born in 1874 in Schio in the family of Antonio Faccina and Maria, nee Losco. The artist’s brother was the astronomer Francesco Faccin. Received primary education in Schio. He studied painting at the workshop of Tommaso Pasquotti, then at the Royal Academy in Venice, upon completion of education in which he received an honorary diploma. In 1901 he became a member of the honorary commission of the Academy.
In 1911 he moved to Vicenza. In 1913, married with Regina Simoni. In marriage, he had two daughters. Soon after marriage, the artist's health was shaken, and he was ill until his death.
Despite his short life, Faccin left behind numerous works - more than sixty paintings and forty frescoes. He wrote a lot of works on sacred subjects, such as “Assumption of the Virgin Mary” - a fifteen-meter fresco on the vault of the nave of the church in Chiampo. He created canvases in other genres: portraits, such as “Portrait of Monsignor Alessandro Saccardo” and “Portrait of Monsignor Francesco Pangier,” are now kept in the riveting of the Cathedral of Schio, landscapes and engravings. Faccin gained fame after an exhibition organized by the Vicenza Public Museum in 1916.
He was also involved in artistic restoration. Among his restored works are paintings in the church of San Giacomo in Vicenza. Faccin died after a long illness in November 1916 in Vicenza.
