Biography
He was born on November 20, 1935 in the village of Kudali, Gunibsky District, DASSR [1] .
In 1956, he graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Department of Dagestan State University , after graduating from a university he was sent to work in the Dagestan branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences [1] .
In 1961, he graduated from graduate school at Moscow State University, and was sent to work at DSU , where he went from a teacher to the head of the department of solid state physics and vice-rector for scientific work [1] .
In 1975, he defended his doctoral dissertation (doctoral studies at the Physics Department of Moscow State University) [1] .
From 1988 to 2009 - Director of the largest in Dagestan and the only in the south of Russia academic Institute of Physics named after Kh. I. Amirkhanov, where he spent a lot of work on reforming the Institute [1] .
In 1997 - was elected a corresponding member of the RAS.
Currently - Head of the Department of Phase Transition Physics at the Kh. I. Amirkhanov Institute of Physics [1] .
Scientific activity
The creator of a scientific school on the physics of phase transitions (received the official status of a leading scientific school of the Russian Federation) [1] .
He conducts research in the field of fundamental problems of solid state physics, magnetism, thermodynamics and thermophysics, and the pioneering work in the field of physics of magnetic phase transitions laid the foundation for a new scientific direction - physics of the magnetic critical state [1] .
Conducted research on the features of magnetic phase transitions, static, dynamic and crossover phenomena in weak magnetic fields in ferro-, ferri- and antiferromagnets [1] .
He performed an analysis of methods for determining spontaneous magnetization, magnetostriction, susceptibility, and the Curie point from М-Н-Т data in the critical region, while developing a fundamentally new method (“kink”) for their determination, which is based on the phenomenon first discovered in the lower vicinity of the Curie point the constancy of magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, magnetostriction, and the magneto-optical Faraday effect over a wide temperature range in weak magnetic fields. The studies formed the basis of a new scientific field - the physics of magnetically ordered crystals in weak magnetic fields [1] .
On the basis of his works, a scientific direction also appeared devoted to the study of problems of magnetoelasticity and, especially, phase transitions and critical phenomena in compressible magnets. Magnetoelasticity in the critical region was studied, a theory of the similarity of magnetoelasticity was constructed; new features of the critical behavior of dynamic magnetoelasticity and the influence of a magnetic field on them are established, a magnetic analog of the Landau - Khalatnikov mechanism above the Curie point in a magnetic field is discovered. Based on these data, he first carried out the most complete verification of universal laws of similarity, predictions of renormalization group theory and є-decomposition, confirmed the conclusions of the modern theory of static and dynamic critical phenomena, built a number of scaling magnetic equations of state, established clans of universality of magnets, used a set of critical parameters in as an alternative method for determining the type and nature of spin ordering in magnets [1] .
In the field of physics of phase transitions in condensed matter, a series of works on magnetothermodynamics and physics of semiconductors has been carried out, the idea of a fundamentally new alternative method for creating pn junctions under conditions of a large temperature gradient - thermostimulated diodes has been put forward and implemented, is one of the authors of works on thin-film physics and high-physics pressure [1] .
He developed a method for producing isotopically pure thin films, obtained a number of important results on the spin dynamics of magnets, including spin nanostructures, and established a new class of substances - quasi-gapless semiconductors [1] .
Author and co-author of more than 700 scientific papers, including monographs, textbooks, reviews, copyright certificates and patents [1] .
Under his leadership, defended more than 30 candidate and doctoral dissertations [1] .
