History
Paradox Development Studio was founded as the heiress of the Swedish company Target Games , based on the creation of board games . The company aimed to create global strategies such as Europa Universalis , Hearts of Iron , Crusader Kings , and Victoria . In 1999, the company split into two separate enterprises: Paradox Interactive , which focused on creating games on the PC , and Paradox Entertainment , which was engaged in board and role-playing games .
In January 2012, the company again split into two, turning into Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studio. Paradox Interactive has become a publisher focused on computer games of various genres , and Paradox Development Studio has become a global strategy developer.
Paradox Development Studio was one of the first global strategy game development studios. Their games usually cover most of the world map in a given historical period, and include elements of economics , diplomacy, and warfare .
