Canvases Ferrari enjoyed success with the audience and recognition from critics. Soon after his debut, several of his personal exhibitions took place: in 1839 at the Academy of Venice, in 1840 at the University of Brescia and in 1844 at the Brera Gallery in Milan. Ferrari was recognized by contemporaries as one of Verona's leading artists during the Restoration period. He received solid orders from the city aristocracy and representatives of the Austrian authorities located in Verona. This was also facilitated by the patronage of the painter of the Austrian Marshal Joseph Radetzky, who acquired from him a series of paintings depicting the Venetian lagoon in the spirit of landscape painting of the 18th century. The peak of international recognition and commercial success Ferrari reached around 1851, after visiting his exhibition by the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph. The visit of the monarch led to orders from foreign customers with a very high public status.
In 1898, the paintings of the artist, who had already died by that time, were presented to visitors at the Italian General Exhibition in Turin. Ferrari's works of the late period are characterized by a stylization of Renaissance painting with author's technology, which was formed under the influence of his contacts with collector Cesare Bernasconi.
