History

The station was opened as part of the first line of the M1 line (from the Sesto Marelli station to the Lotto station) [1] on November 1, 1964 [2] .

The design name was simply “Marelli” [1] .

The station remained terminal on its line until September 28, 1964 , when the line was extended to the territory of the commune of Sesto San Giovanni to the newly opened station of Sesto Primo Maggio FS [3] [4] .

Incident

On April 26, 1982, the station was suspected and burned out, as a result of which it was closed for 5 months for repair work [5] .

Features

The construction of the Sesto Marelli station is similar to the construction of almost all stations of the first stage: an underground location with two tracks - one for each direction and two side platforms. Above the station hall there is a mezzanine , in which entrance turnstiles and a booth for station employees are located [6] .
