Biography

Born on September 16, 1940 [3] in the family of provincial actors Olga Penchkovskaya and Vladimir Kochetkov. During the war, he was evacuated with his parents in Omsk [4] , then Stavropol lived. He studied at the school together with future famous actors Vladislav Dvorzhetsky and Emanuel Vitorgan . In 1948 he returned to Astrakhan. He spent his childhood in the theater, and already at that age he tried to stage performances [5] .

He entered the Astrakhan Pedagogical Institute. During training, he continued to engage in theatrical productions. in 1965, at the end of the institute, he was distributed in Kharabali , where he created a folk theater and staged a play by A. D. Salynsky “Pebbles in the palm of your hand”. The performance was noted at the First All-Union Festival of Amateur Workers ’Creativity and shown on the stage of the Moscow Maly Theater [5] .

Until 1970, Yuri Kochetkov studied in absentia at the Moscow Theater School named after B.V. Shchukin , having received the profession of director [6] . Since 1967 he worked as a director in the Astrakhan Regional Drama Theater . In 1970 he became director of the Astrakhan Theater for Young Spectators, and since 1974 he took the place of artistic director of this theater. In the Youth Theater he has staged over 80 performances [3] , including “Be prepared, Your Highness!” By L. A. Cassil , “Tom Sawyer” by M. Twain , “The Kid and Carlson, Who Lives on the Roof” A. For more than 15 years he headed the Astrakhan branch of the Union of Theater Workers [5] . He was elected as a deputy of the district, city and regional councils of deputies.
