Biography
Vladimir Pushkaryov was born on May 24, 1921 in Lugansk. He was engaged in weightlifting in the Moscow sports society Dynamo under the leadership of Dmitry Polyakov.
In 1949 he became the champion of the USSR for the first time. In 1950, he joined the USSR national team at the World and European Championships in Paris, where he won the European Championship and the bronze medal of the World Championship. Subsequently, he won the USSR championship three more times (1951, 1952, 1954), but was not included in the national team at major international competitions.
After completing his sports career, he was engaged in coaching at the Dynamo Sports and Sports Association. Among his most famous students are world champions Yuri Kozin and Vladimir Ryzhenkov .
He died on December 2, 1994 in Moscow. He was buried at the Don cemetery .
