Biography
Born in 1947 in the village of Jagra , Pakistan 's Northwest Frontier Province . In 1997, he was elected to the Senate of Pakistan , and also served as the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) . In the Senate, Iqbal Zafar was chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Defense, Defense Production and Aviation. In the political life of the country, he supported Nawaz Sharif and opposed the regime of Pervez Musharraf [1] .
On March 4, 2016, he was appointed governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province [2] . About 5,000 guests attended the inauguration ceremony. Iqbal Zafar Jagra's residence is located in the Governor's House of Peshawar [3] . In February 2017, he made a statement that he was ready to participate in negotiations with the Taliban to end the terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province [4] .
