Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon ( Spanish: Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, UANL ) is a public university located in San Nicolas de los Garza , a suburb of Monterrey , the capital of the state of Nuevo Leon in Mexico .

It is considered the third among universities in Mexico by the number of students enrolled and the first university in northeast Mexico, which offers the largest number of academic programs. The oldest university in Nuevo Leon .
One of the best state universities in Mexico and Latin America , ranked 4th according to Ranki 's polls in the list of the best universities in Mexico in 2014 and 1st place as one of the 10 most recognized universities in Mexico according to QS World University Rankings .
History
The history of the university dates back to 1859, when the Civil Academy (Colegio Civil) was established. This institution included training in law and medicine, as well as a preparatory school.
The founding date of the Autonomous State University is September 25, 1933, when the Nuevo Leon State Congress decided to form it.
Structure
The university has seven campuses throughout the state:
- The campus ( Ciudad Universitaria ) in San Nicolas de los Garza , which houses 13 faculties for 43,150 students, an outdoor stadium, 2 main libraries, computer laboratories, a cafeteria and a main bookstore.
- The Faculty of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, the Center for Research and Development in the Field of Food Sciences (CIDIA) and the Center for Business Development are located in the Campus of Agriculture and Livestock in Escobado.
- The campus of the Medical University of Monterrey , where students study dentistry, medicine, nursing, psychology, public health and nutrition. There is also a University Hospital and a medical clinic for staff.
- Campus of the School of Agronomy Faculty in Marine.
- The campus in Monterrey , where students study at the faculties of economics, communications, music, political science and the visual arts, has a university theater, a state affiliate of the Association of World Trade Centers and a bilingual educational research center (CIDEB). * The Linares campus , which houses the study of natural sciences, forestry, as well as branches of the departments of accounting and business administration.
