US Senators from Arkansas are representatives of the state of Arkansas in the US Senate - the upper house of the US Congress , the country's highest federal legislature. The US Senate consists of 100 members, two senators from each of the fifty US states [1] .

Each senator is elected for a term of 6 years, with a third of the senators being re-elected every two years. Depending on this, US senators are divided into three classes. Senators of each of these classes have the same significance - the only difference is the time of their re-election. Senators of the 2nd and 3rd grade are elected from Arkansas.

Currently, U.S. senators from Arkansas are Republicans Tom Cotton ( Tom Cotton , 19th Senator 2nd Class) and John Buzman ( John Boozman , 16th Senator 3rd Class). John Buzman has been a senator since January 3, 2011, and Tom Cotton took office on January 3, 2015.

2nd Class Senators

US senators of the 2nd class relate to the electoral cycle, which began in the elections of 1836, for the three Congresses (24th, 25th and 26th, respectively). The seat of a 2nd-class senator is contested every three Congresses (six years). 2nd class senators were elected in 2002, 2008 and 2014. The next senator of the 2nd class will be held in Arkansas in 2020.
