Biography

Tsakhkanush Keropovna Galemteryan [comm. 1] was born on May 1, 1937 in the Syrian city of Kesab [2] , in the family of a worker [3] . In 1947, together with their parents and two brothers, Tsakhkanush Galemteryan repatriated. The family settled in the capital of Soviet Armenia - Yerevan , where Tsakhkanush received an eight-year incomplete secondary education [2] .

Immediately after leaving school in 1954, Tsakhkanush Galemteryan went to the V.I. Lenin Yerevan Silk Mill of the Ministry of Light Industry of the Armenian SSR, where, after receiving vocational training, she started working as a weaver of the second weaving workshop [3] [4] . During this period, Galemteryan became a member of the Komsomol . Immediately distinguished by the quality of her work, she was elected secretary of the Komsomol shift organization, after which she became a trade union organizer [2] . In 1965, Galemteryan joined the Communist Party [3] . With gaining experience, Galemteryan achieved high indicators in work. Instead of 35 seconds set at the norm, she spent 27 seconds to eliminate a break in the warp, 22 seconds instead of 28 seconds to eliminate a break in the thread, and she spent 17 seconds instead of 22 [4] . Thus, the outlined plan of the seventh five-year plan, Galemteryan fulfilled ahead of schedule. In her honor, the high-quality products of the Yerevan Silk Plant - one type of fabric, was called “Tsakhkanush” [5] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 9, 1966, for outstanding achievements in fulfilling the seven-year plan tasks and achieving high technical and economic indicators for the production of fabrics, knitwear, shoes, sewing products and other light industry products Tsakhkanush Keropovna Galemteryan [comm. 2] was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle" [6] [1] .

Subsequently, Tsakhkanush Galemteryan became a multi-worker: she began by servicing eight looms , after which she increased the number of machines to twelve, then eighteen and twenty-four. During the ninth and tenth five-year periods, Galemteryan fulfilled twenty annual plans [2] . According to the results of the tenth five-year plan, for high labor successes she was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor [7] . During the years of the eleventh five-year plan, Galemteryan switched to the maintenance of thirty looms. Already in April 1982, she produced 320 thousand meters of fabric, which significantly exceeded the planned two-year production plan. Instead of the envisaged 5% increase in the volume of products of the first type, she managed to increase the volume by 10% [7] . Following the results of the eleventh five-year plan, Galemteryan was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples [4] .

Tsakhkanush Galemteryan also conducted active public work. She was elected deputy of the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR of the VII convocation from Lukashinsky constituency No. 77 of Yerevan [3] . Galemteryan was a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR [3] , a delegate to the XXV Congress of the CPSU and three congresses of the Communist Party of Armenia [2] . At the 27th Congress of the Communist Party of Armenia, Galemteryan was a member of the credentials committee [8] . In the Yerevan Silk Factory, Galemteryan was one of the first to become a mentor, she passed on her professional experience to many beginning weavers [4] .

Now Tsakhkanush Keropovna Galemteryan is on a well-deserved rest, lives in Yerevan [6] .
