Club History

In December 1951, a group of hockey players from Moscow State University , who played at the Moscow Championship among universities in ball hockey , organized the first university ice hockey competitions.

Since 1994, the formation of the MSU team as a hockey club of a good sports level began. The new coach, Alexei Strelkov, attracted both university hockey veterans and young players. Preparations for participation in the Russian Championship continued for three seasons, and in 1997 MSU hockey players made their debut in the Russian championship in the second league (the Center region). The team played and trained at the CSKA Ice Palace (with the assistance of Viktor Tikhonov ).

In January 1998, the Hockey Club of students and employees of Moscow State University was registered. Having taken fifth place in the 1997/1998 season, the next club became the third and received the right to enter the first league of the championship of Russia.

In the 1999/2000 season, the MSU HC began as a first league team and took second place, only a point behind Severstal-2 in Cherepovets , but the club performed unsuccessfully in the transition tournament for the right to play in the major leagues in Penza and Saratov , skipping forward the home team - “Dieselist” and “Crystal” .
