Content
Formation
The division was formed in 1941 as the Ivanovo rifle division. The core of the division consisted of the militias of the Ivanovo workers' regiment them. Furmanov (later 222nd Infantry Regiment). December 31, 1941 renamed the 49th Infantry Division.
Division Combat Path
The 49th Division in the army since March 9, 1942. She took part in the Battle of Stalingrad, fought on the outskirts of Stalingrad in the area of ββthe plant "Barricades".
In the summer of 1943 she took part in the Battle of Kursk. Then she distinguished herself in the battles for Roslavl. September 25, 1943 she was awarded the honorary name "Roslavl".
In 1944, she participated in the liberation of Belarus and Lithuania. Passed about 700 kilometers with fights.
In 1945, she participated in the breakthrough of the enemy's defense line south of Warsaw. Forced the Vistula and Oder. Stormed strongly fortified Frankfurt (Oder). At the end of the war eliminated the enemy grouping in the area of ββBerlin.
Awarded the Order of the Red Banner, Suvorov 2 degrees.
