Formation

The division was formed in 1941 as the Ivanovo rifle division. The core of the division consisted of the militias of the Ivanovo workers' regiment them. Furmanov (later 222nd Infantry Regiment). December 31, 1941 renamed the 49th Infantry Division.

Division Combat Path

The 49th Division in the army since March 9, 1942. She took part in the Battle of Stalingrad, fought on the outskirts of Stalingrad in the area of ​​the plant "Barricades".
