Biography
Abram Lokshin was born on February 7, 1893 in Yekaterinoslav [1] .
In 1918 he graduated from the Yekaterinoslav Mining Institute . After graduation, he was left at the proposal of Professor Alexander Dinnik in graduate school. He consistently held the posts of assistant (1920), associate professor (1923), and professor (1925). In 1928 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Applied Mathematics on the topic "Dynamic stresses in hoisting ropes", in which he studied the dynamic stresses in hoisting ropes of constant length and variable cross-section, a sudden stop of the upper end of the rope, speed communication to the end load, sudden application of the end load load and rope weight, accelerated movement of the upper end, as well as dynamic stresses in ropes of variable length. Lokshinβs doctoral dissertation was an important stage in the development of the doctrine of dynamic processes in lifting ropes, and formed the basis of some subsequent work on this topic. From 1930 until his death in 1934, he headed the department of construction, theoretical and applied mechanics of the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute [2] .
The author of works in the field of applied mathematics , physics , theoretical mechanics , resistance of materials , theory of elasticity . Specialist in the field of torsion of rods and anisotropic prisms, stability of curved rods of constant and variable cross-section, longitudinal bending under distributed load, stability and vibration of plates, reinforced by stiffeners. Many of Lokshin's works were translated into German, French, and English [2] .
He died on September 9, 1934 in Dnepropetrovsk [1] .
