Frances Barrison had a difficult childhood. The fact that the mother was ashamed of her daughter because of her overweight, as well as the fact that she was abused by both parents in her childhood, led Frances to start selling drugs until Cloak and Dagger prevented one of her deals. According to her, she was wounded in the head by police, and during the operation, the doctors made a mistake, because of which she became insane.

It is still unclear how she got her abilities. It could be her abilities from birth, but they simply did not appear until she fell into the dimension of the Cloak, or they arose from the use of drugs that she was taking, or it was a combination of all these events.

Maximum Massacre

During the escape of the serial killer Cletus Kasidi from Ravencroft prison, he met a Squeal. She persuaded him to help her escape into the wild, and Carnage agreed. After that, they were joined by Doppelgenger ^[en] , Demogoblin ^[en] and Carrion ^[en] : together they formed the so-called Carnage Family .

At this time, Frances’s family obsession problems began to emerge from childhood, and she accepted Karnage as her “husband”, Carrion and Goblin Demon as her “children”, whom she would teach the lessons of villainy, and Doppelgenger became their “pet”. Crazy Carnage agreed with this crazy idea, and they all massacre the massacre in New York. This episode was later called the Maximum Carnage . Squealing, using her abilities, aroused anger in people and forced them to fight with each other, but super-heroes calmed the crowd of people before they could do anything serious. The criminals fought many heroes led by Spider-Man , but lost in the fight. Carnage threw the Doppelganger from the roof for disobedience and left the other affected allies. He was subsequently captured by the Avengers after a collision with Spider-Man, Venom and the Black Cat . After the end of the Great Massacre, Frances was returned to Ravencroft.

Screech

Screech twice tried to escape from Ravencroft. When she saw her “son”, she again became attached to him and broke free, from a special cage designed for her. Using her powers, she activated the Carrion virus and decided to reunite the "family" again. However, it was already too late, as the goblin demon was not alive, and Carnage was in a coma at that time. Only Carrion left, turned back into a man, Malcolm McBride.

After several tiring events in his life, Spider-Man tracked down the Squeal and attacked her with such aggression as she had not seen on his part. The spider began to beat the super-villain, but she outwitted him, praying for mercy and easily neutralizing with the help of her scream. Frances sensed the growing darkness inside Spider-Man and decided that he would be a suitable “father” for Padali and take the place of Carnage in her crazy family. With the help of the virus, Barrison took the Carrion under her control. Squeal later decided to visit his own mother, to whom Carrion was still attached. Spider-Man tracked them down, but was attacked by the Scavenger, who tried to save the life of his real mother, Beatrice McBride. Spider-Man ventured all his accumulated anger on the Carrion, brutally beating him, but his mother, Beatrice, persuaded Spider to stop. At that moment, Squeal realized that Spider-Man was not suitable for the role of such a "father of the family" as Carnage, and neutralized him with the help of ultrasound. She forced Malcolm to choose the one that he would like to see his mother. However, the carrion was completely confused and used his own forces on himself. Then Squeal absorbed the virus, freed Malcolm from his curse, and allowed Spider-Man to return her to Ravencroft. After everything that happened, Squeal perceived the virus in herself as an unborn child, but Jackal ( English Jackal ) removed it from her body.

Carnage is back!

After Carnage was torn in half by Sentinels , his remains floated in space for about a year, until they crashed into a satellite that belonged to businessman Michael Hall and returned to Earth. At the same time in Ravencroft, the Squeal sensed the return of Carnage and was frightened, but the orderlies “calmed” her, shocking him severely. Her psychiatrist and attending physician, Tanis Nieves , did not appreciate the patient’s harsh treatment and demanded that Frances be treated as an ordinary person. But one of the orderlies informed her that in Ravencroft there is now a new leadership and new orders.

Eight months later, while Dr. Nives took the day off, in Ravencroft, the new management decided to move the Squeal in an armored van to another facility. Neaves found out about this and tried to stop them by pushing a van off the road in her car.

At the same time, Doppelganger sensed the presence of his "mother", set off in pursuit of the vehicle and attacked him. However, he was unable to save the Squeal and he himself was seriously injured. The armored car delivered Frances to a secret laboratory, where she met face-to-face with the red symbiote of Carnage, which was placed in a special capsule for containment. They brought a screech so that she, using her unique abilities, would “feed” the symbiote with fear and hatred and save him from death. All this is organized by Hall Corporation, which plans to use a symbiote for prosthetics and the creation of biological weapons.

Later, the symbiote connected with Cletus, and the Squeal found Dr. Nives in a cage with Doppelganger. Screech tried to find out the location of Carnage, accusing Neaves of trying to steal it. At this time, Neeves's hand began to mutate and she began to beg Barrison for help, but Squeal only attacked her. In the end, Nieves cut off her hand, with a symbiotic prosthesis that was trying to take over her mind. The screech helped Carnage in the fight against Spider-Man and Iron Man . She used a sound explosion to push them away from Cletus, at the same time showing Cassidy that the hand merged with her, creating a third hand.

But something went wrong, the symbiote unhooked the Squeal and crawled back to Dr. Neaves, merging with her. So another offspring of Carnage was born, nicknamed himself Contempt ( Scorn , Eng. Scorn ).

Contempt grabbed Squeal by her hair and forced her to scream, which weakened her lover and allowed the two heroes to defeat the symbiote, but Cletus managed to escape from the laboratory, and Squeal fell into a coma. If she ever wakes up from a coma, she will be charged with double murder.

Forces

• Sound waves : The screech is capable of creating sound waves that it can use to throw and stun enemies. These sound waves can propagate in the dimension of the Cloak and cause severe damage to it.
• Dark empathy : Squealing can cause the dark sides of people to manifest; when she uses this ability, her left eye begins to glow. During the Maximum Massacre, Squeal used this ability to drive New Yorkers crazy: for example, a woman wanted to kill her child.
• Telekinesis : She is able to force objects and people to levitate by the power of thought.

Weaknesses

The screech is vulnerable to mental attacks by psychics .
