Collection
The first donation to the collection was made in 1872 from the personal gallery of Sir Thomas Butterworth ( eng. Thomas Butterworth ). Now the collection consists mostly of Dutch , French and British works of the XVII - XIX centuries , lithographs , engravings and a number of paintings by British artists of the 20th century. Also in the gallery are collected works from many South African communities, sculptures and ornaments made from beads .
