History

The single-track Beskudnikovsky railway branch was built in the early 1900s to bring construction materials to the construction site of the Savelovsky direction of the Moscow Railway from the Yaroslavl direction . In the course of the railway over the river Yauzu a metal riveted bridge was thrown with a ride on top . The railroad acquired a new meaning with the construction on the northern outskirts of Moscow in Sviblovo in the late 1920s of the Institute of the way of the USSR People's Commissariat of Communications of the USSR , the world's first specialized institute of transport construction. Beskudnikovskaya branch was used for running new trains, including the first Soviet commuter trains, and the bridge over the Yauza was equipped with sensors that determined the level of maximum load during the passage of the train [2] [3] .

During the Great Patriotic War , the 21st battery of the 176th Red Army anti-aircraft artillery regiment was deployed between the bridge and the buildings of the institute. Yauza , Mytishch and Kalininsky , where important industrial facilities, railway communications, locomotive and carload depot were located. The bridge was not damaged during the bombardment [4] [5] .

In the 1960s, the bridge built in the 1900s was dismantled, and a similar one was built downstream of the Yauza River [6] . With the inclusion of the territory of the passage of the Beskudnikovsky railway line into Moscow, the noisy proving ground of the Institute was moved further to the region, and the Beskudnikovsky branch became primarily passenger. With the extension to the areas near Sviblovo- Kaluga-Riga and Serpukhov-Timiryazevskaya lines of the Moscow Metro and the organization of tram routes, the railway line lost its previous value and in 1987 was abolished. Dwelling houses were built at the site of the railway tracks, and the bridge over the Yauza River was abandoned and served as a pedestrian bridge. In 2001-2006, the bridge was reconstructed and landscaped: the wooden structural elements were removed from it, the pedestrian part was narrowed and equipped with railings [2] [3] [7] .

Culture Bridge

On the former railway bridge over Yauzu, events of the video clip “Fellowship, Don't Shoot Each Other”, shot in the early 1990s for the same song by Evgeny Kemerovsky, are developing. On the bridge, a scene of a gangster "showdown" was filmed, during which one of the cars exploded. According to the testimony of one of the local residents, the wreckage lay on the bridge for almost a year after filming, after they were dumped down and removed only after the start of bank protection works on the Yauza [6] .
