Vladimir Ivanovich Povetkin ( December 23, 1951 - April 26, 2010 ) - Soviet and Russian boxing coach . Coach of the Spartak Sports Society, father and personal trainer of the titled Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin , Honored Coach of Russia (2006). Also known as a sports organizer, president of the Kursk Region Boxing and Kickboxing Federation.

Biography
Vladimir Povetkin was born on December 23, 1951. In his youth he was actively engaged in boxing, in 1971 he won the boxing championship of the Kursk region, in 1972 he became the winner of the championship of the Far Eastern Military District , fulfilled the standard of a candidate for master of sports.
After completing his sports career, he worked for many years as a boxing trainer at the Kursk Regional Council of the Spartak Volunteer Sports Society, where he trained many talented boxers, including masters of sports and international masters. According to the recollections of colleagues, “Volodya pulled out a lot of children from the basements. From such cellars, from where the road usually goes only to prison. And his parents are grateful to him for teaching the guys strength of mind and will ” [1] .
The most famous student of V. I. Povetkin is his eldest son Alexander Povetkin , Honored Master of Sports, Olympic champion, European and world champion, world champion among professionals [2] . His youngest son, Vladimir, also achieved some success in boxing, became a master of sports and successfully boxed in the professional ring, but was forced to end his career due to health problems [3] . For outstanding achievements in the coaching field in 2006, Vladimir Ivanovich Povetkin was awarded the honorary title “ Honored Coach of Russia ”.
Subsequently, for more than twenty years, he served as president of the Boxing and Kickboxing Federation of the Kursk Region, and was involved in the organization of sports competitions at various levels.
In recent years, he suffered from leukemia . He died on April 26, 2010 while undergoing treatment in a clinic in Germany. He was buried in the Northern cemetery in Kursk [4] .
Annually, a memorial tournament is held in Kursk in memory of the honored trainer of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ivanovich Povetkin [5] .
