He was born in Kiev on November 30, 1904 in the family of the doctor Anton Stanislavovich de Lens, who came from a Russified noble French family.

He graduated from the mechanical faculty of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (1928).

• 1927-1929 draftsman at the Arsenal plant,
• 1929 design engineer of the design and installation trust "Heat and Power",
• 1930 mechanical engineer of the trust "Ukrsukno",
• 1930-1941
• 1941-1944 (evacuated to Sverdlovsk) deputy chief power engineer, then head of the design bureau of the Uralhimmash plant.
• 1944–1953 Head of Department, Scientific Research Institute of Himmash (Moscow)
• 1953-1957 head of the design department of NII-8
• 1957-1983 - Deputy Director of the NII-8 (NIKIET) and at the same time the head of the transport installations sector.

Member of the design of the first industrial reactor in the USSR, one of the project managers of the first reactor installation for a nuclear submarine, author of the concept of a new generation of block-type transport nuclear power plants.

Doctor of Technical Sciences (1956).
