Publication History

Lockjo first appeared in the Fantastic Four # 45 comic strip (December 1965) and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Biography

Lockjo was born on the island of Attilan , previously in the Atlantic Ocean. Lockjo resembles a giant bulldog and serves as a teleport to the Inhumans and escort of the Royal Inhumans. Many times he carried Inhumans to and from Earth. From time to time, his forces were manipulated by evil forces, most often by Maximus the Mad .

Lockjo and the Royal Family faced the creation of Maximus , Tricon, and were banished from Attilan's Great Sanctuary into exile. [one]

Lockjo first appeared as a member of the Inhumans when they tried to return Medusa from the outside world and take her back to Attilan. This led them to conflict with the Fantastic Four , the first people they met who sheltered Medusa after saving her from the Terrifying Four . Accordingly, Lockjo is indirectly responsible for revealing the existence of Attilan in the outside world. They returned to Attilan and were trapped in the barrier of the "negative zone" of Maximus around the Great Asylum. [2]

Lockjo is able to run and separate from his city. He wanders around the country for a while, accidentally terrorizing locals until he meets with Johnny Storm and Wyatt Wingfoot. He traveled with a couple in an attempt to break the “negative zone” barrier. [3] Soon, the Inhumans were freed from the “negative zone” barrier, and Lockjo transferred Crystal to New York and brought Triton from Attilan to save Mr. Fantastic . [4] Then Lockjo was forced to return Crystal to Attilan by Maximus. [five]

Together with Crystal Lockjo was captured by Diablo. [6] They later rescued Mercury, which was wounded. [7] Soon, Lockjo attended the wedding of Mercury and Crystal. [8] He also brought the Fantastic Four to Attilan to fight Traxton. [9]

At some point, Mercury and the Creature witnessed what seemed to be Lockjo, apparently a sentient being once mutated by Terrigen Mist , talking to them. This convinces Mercury not to expose their daughter to the Moon in the Mist. [10] However, Lockjo later brought Mercury to Washington, Washington, in search of the X-Factor, and Mercury stated there that Lockjo’s conversation was actually a hoax committed on Creature Karnak and Gorgon . [eleven]

Lockjo brought other Inhumans to Earth in search of Medusa when she escaped from Attilan to avoid a forced abortion. He also transferred the injured Triton back to Attilan. [12] With the Crystal, he later summoned the Avengers to help fight Than Hector and Brezren. [13] Together with the Avengers, he fought with Brezner. [14]

As noted in the Ka-Zar # 12 comic, Lockjo also travels through the Universe of Heroes of Reborn with his Inhumans family. This visit lasts about a year; All are successfully returning. [15]

Being always especially loving Ben Grimm, Lockjo chooses to stay with him. Ben received him lovingly, saying that he "always wanted a dog." It is not known why Lockjo did not accompany Ben Grimm when he felt the need to retreat to France during the Civil War .

Lockjo is featured in 2006, limited to the Son of M series. Most of the mutants on Earth were powerless, Mercury decides to steal the mutagenic Terrigene Inhumans Fog and re-elect the desired mutants. Lockjo is convinced to help him in the mission. Traveling with their daughter Mercury Moon, they cross the Earth, heading to places like Genosha . Other Inhumans pursue them. [sixteen]

Later, Lockjo reunites with the Black Thunder, Medusa, and other Inhumans to help the Inhuman strike fight the confused Sentinel . [17]

Lockjo helps his family keep an eye on the Black Thunder that was captured by the Skrulls. Using technology from their allies and Kriya’s abilities, Lockjo grows, allowing him to teleport much further. [18]

New Allies

In 2009, Lockjo received a four-episode mini-series called Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers , teaming up with Lockheed, Redwing, Mrs. Lioness (aunt May ’s puppy from the movie Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends), Zabu, Speedball Niels Cat and the new frog by named Trog. This series includes Lockjo bringing the Glove of Infinity along with assistants to animal allies. [19] The series was well received that there were two more mini-series with the Beast Avengers.

Lockjo joins his Inhumans family again due to a conflict that ultimately led them to take over the Kriya empire. This leads to the apparent loss of the Black Thunder, despite all the efforts of Crystal and Lockjo. [20] This conflict also leads to the devastation of the Shi'ar empire. As his family determines who will rule, Lockheed appears to be working closely with the Moon and assisting in the restoration of Shi'ar. [21] Lockjo again becomes involved in assembling the Infinity Gloves together when the Soul gem is lost and was later found. [22] Lockjo was also sent by Medusa to spy on the recent Inhuman Miss Marvel (Kamala Khan) [23] and helps her in her battle against the hybrid parrot / human clone Thomas Edison , known as the Inventor. [24]

During the storyline Inhumans vs. X-Men ” Lockjo took a nap when the Fantomex knocked him out. [25]

Strengths and Abilities

Lockjo possesses “super-canine” powers of jaw, age and size. Once he locked the Creature’s hand in the jaw and the Creature couldn’t make him let go. Lockjo can also teleport himself and nearby living things and matter to any place he wants, from the Earth to the Moon, and can even open passages between dimensions. Energy barriers that seem impenetrable to others do not seem to pose any problems for him. Lockjo also has the ability to psionically trace this “smell” through temporary space.

Lockjo also once felt a danger from afar when Dr. Doom manipulated the Silver Surfer 's abilities.

Lockjo is able to chew and swallow inorganic material, such as fragments of complex robots without any harmful effects, but it is not known whether this is his main source of nutrition.

In the Secret Invasion : Inhumans mini-series, the Royal Family allies with the Kriyas to free the Black Thunder from their Skrull captors. To this end, the Kree significantly increased the ability to teleport Lockjo, allowing him to teleport himself and others to vast interplanetary distances. [26]

Other versions

Earth X

In Earth X's alternate future, Lockjo was shot dead by some gas bullet and killed by Maximus . His teleport antenna on his forehead is apparently the only part of it that has survived. It is used by the Black Thunder and other Inhumans to investigate events on Earth.

Marvel Knights 2099

Lockjo is one of the few members of the royal family that survived in 2099; Maximus the Mad killed the rest. Inhumans have established themselves in the space station, also called Attilan. [27]

Marvel Zombies

Lockjo appears zombied with the Inhuman Royal Family, creating a portal for them to meet with Kingping . [28] He later began to attack the Human Machine . Lockjo's heroic android tricks teleport him to the main Marvel Universe. Lockjo is tricked to eat an explosive human brain. It is destroyed during the explosion. [29] Another Lockjo is shown when a zombie virus spreads to Earth Z. He is also a zombie and helps kill the Warbands. He was captured by the Human Machine, Ultron and Jocasta. [thirty]

Ultimate Marvel

Lockjo also appears in Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual # 1. In this version, he has teleportation abilities. He leaves the Himalayan hideaway of Inhumans with Crystal, who runs away because she is forced to marry Black Thunder's brother Maximus (only Crystal suspects that he is crazy). Lockjo helps save Crystal from their pursuing guards, but in the end they still drag her back home. They leave him and he helps the Fantastic Four. This is not very well accepted, since most in the society of Inhumans categorically do not like any outsiders. The Black Thunder finishes the destruction of the evacuated Attilan simply because the Four “infected” him. Some of the Inhumans indicate that they conspired that Lockjo would remain in the human world. [31]

When Ronan the Prosecutor kidnaps Maximus' control helmet as part of his plan to destroy Attilan, Lockjo ordered the Black Thunder controlled mind to take him and Star Lord to the caves of Teruman's Mist near Attilan. At Star-Lord, using the Crypto Cube, Lockjo was among the Inhumans cured of the plague. After Medusa thanks the Guardians of the Galaxy on behalf of the Black Thunder, the Star Lord is stuck in his Baseball. In the Inhuman Touch series, Lockjo helps the Guardians of the Galaxy when Maximus escapes from prison. He appears with the Black Thunder, Medusa, Gorgon, and Karnak at the time when the Inhumans ship carrying the Seeker and Alpha Primitive crashes into the mountains near Maple Falls. Locke had to take the Hulk to the Inhumans laboratory on Atillan in order to get the Terrigen crystal for the device to get rid of the Terrigen Mist. Upon arrival, Lockjo sprained his paw, forcing the Hulk to carry it, dodging the Inhumans soldiers who mistakenly mistook the Hulk for trying to harm Lockjo. As soon as they find Terrigen Crystal, they teleport back to Maple Falls just in time to use the device following the inferno hatching from its Terrigen cocoon. Thanks to a trick that helped to escape from Maximus, after teleporting, Lockjo was injured by a passing driver named Dave. After which Lockdo was completely cured, thanks to Dave's former girlfriend, Audrey. After this, Lockjo reunites with Crystal, Black Thunder, Medusa, and Karnak and returns them to Attilan to stop Maximus, and then returns them to Earth when Attilan begins to crumble. Inhumans in the person of Medusa make a speech about how they find a new home on Earth.

Video Games

  • Lockjo appears as an unplayable character in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance video game. His duty was to send the heroes to the Shi'ar galaxy and the Skrull hometown to collect the tools necessary to defeat Doctor Doom . In addition, although this is not the case, the game implies that the mini-portals used in the game for an intermediate point, for ground transportation, are created by Lockjo, because every time a player tries to create a portal outside, when possible, a message appears: " Lockjo cannot create a portal in this area. " This creates some continuity error, because when a player gains this ability, this is explained by the experimental teleportation device created by Sch.I.T.om. He also has special “conversations” with Spider-Man , Deadpool and the Creature .
  • Lockjo appears as a playable character in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 . [33]
  • Lockjo can be seen at the beginning of each battle involving Miss Marvel in the mobile game "Marvel: Strike Force"

Non-Fiction

The discussion about Lockjo's feeling is discussed in Peter David's unfigured book, Writing for Comics. In it, he discussed how he tried to go with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s original claim that Lockjo was “Silent Beast.” [34] He appears in a discussion of Marvel comics in a reprinted segment of the Casey At The Bat parody in The Penguin Book of Comics . In context, he accompanied Crystal to a Baseball game. [35]
