The Greek Conservatory ( Greek Ελληνικό Ωδείο ) is the highest musical educational institution operating in Athens .
It was founded in 1919 by the composer Manolis Kalomiris , who headed it until 1926, when he left it to become the founder of the National Conservatory ; another notable musician, Dionysios Lavrangas , from the moment of foundation until 1924 led the opera school at the conservatory.
Currently, the conservatory has, in addition to Athens, 37 branches in Greece, as well as a branch in the Albanian city of Vlora . The conservatory is headed by composer Alkis Baltas .
