On July 24, 1898, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a local girl, Miloika Jocic. Local residents built a small church on this site, but faced resistance from the authorities, who ordered it to be demolished [2] .

In 1934, with the blessing of Bishop Nikolai (Velimirovich) , a wooden church was built. In 1960, a monastery was founded here [2] [3] , in 1964 it became a metocho of the monastery of St. Roman . In 1968, the Jounis Monastery was transformed into a female [4] .

In 1977, the foundation stone was laid for a new large temple. September 16, 2001 he was consecrated by the patriarch of Serbia Paul [4] .

The wooden church was demolished in 1997, and a small monastery church was built in its place [2] .
