Born in Warsaw, approximately in 1861. From 1888 to 1889 he worked as a photographer in the studio of his brother Ignatius Karlovich in Moscow. From 1889 to 1916 he was a photographer in the capital's photo studio "K. E. Gan and Co. ”, from 1891 became one of the owners of this atelier (first co-owner was Kazimira-Ludovika Evgenievna Yakobson, nee Gan, and since 1897 - Vanda Ivanovna Zaelskaya). Since 1900, without stopping to engage in photography, he turned to cinema: his studio conducted documentary filming of various events in the life of the family of the Russian Emperor Nicholas II. In fact, Yagelsky became an official court photographer and cameraman.

He died at the end of July 1916 in Vyritsa, was buried in the Kazan cemetery in August 1916.

After the October Revolution, the archive of films about the royal family, owned by the studio, was declared the property of the state and is now part of the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents [2] . Some of Yagelsky’s photographs are stored in the GARF, and about 8,000 photographs are stored in the RSAFD.
