The Challenge Mondial 1966 Candidates Tournament of 1966 was a drafts tournament, the outcome of which was determined to be the rival of world champion in international drafts Iser Kuperman in the match scheduled for September of the following year. The tournament was held from August 27 to September 11, 1966 in Ales (France) in two circles with the participation of nine players: ex-world champion Vyacheslav Shchyogolev and winners of the national championships of the USSR, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Italy, Monaco and Czechoslovakia. (From the Netherlands in the tournament played the vice-champion of the country Ton Seybrunds instead of ceased to participate in the fight for the world crown Pete Rozenenburg .) The tournament won and got the right to the match for the title of world champion Soviet drafts player Andris Andreiko .
