Nikita Gavrilovich Solomonov (born 1929) - Soviet and Russian biologist , a specialist in the field of ecology and ecological physiology of animals, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1990), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991).

Biography

Born September 27, 1929 in the village. Batamay Kytyla of the 4th Malzhagarsky nasleg of the Khangalassky ulus of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic [1] .

In 1954 he graduated from the natural faculty of the Yakut State Pedagogical Institute [1] .

From 1954 to 1974 - he worked at Yakutsk State University, having gone from an assistant to the head of the department of zoology and the dean of the Faculty of Biology and Geography [1] .

In 1961 - defended his thesis on the topic: "Ecology of water vole in Central Yakutia" [2] .

In 1972 - he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic: "Experience in studying population ecology of rodents and white hare in Yakutia" [2] .

In 1973 he was awarded the title of professor [2] .

Since 1973 - works in the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (SB RAS):

  • 1976 - 1980 - Head of the Laboratory of Ecological Animal Physiology (1973–1984), Deputy Director for Science at the Institute of Biology of the Yakutsk Branch (YF) of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (now it is the Institute of Biological Problems of the Cryolithozone of the SB RAS );
  • 1980— 1986 years - Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Nuclear Physics SB SO of the USSR;
  • 1986–1997 - Director of the Institute of Biology, Siberian Branch, USSR Academy of Sciences - RAS;
  • since 1997 - advisor of the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] .

In 1990, he was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and in 1991 he became a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Scientific and social activities

Conducted research on the identification of regional features of the population ecology of mass mammalian species of Central Yakutia, the dynamics of the number of the most important species of game animals [1] .

Under his leadership, prepared and published "The Red Book of YASSR" (1987) [1] .

Together with foreign partners, he conducted studies on the ecology and migrations of unique birds of the North - Siberian Crane and spectacled eider [1] .

Author of over 280 scientific papers, including 7 monographs [2] .

Under his leadership, defended 25 master's and 16 doctoral dissertations [2] .

Member of scientific councils, commissions and editorial boards of academic journals. Chief editor of the Academy of Sciences of the RS (Y) "Science and Education" [1] .
