The cross-beam yoke [1] [2] , or the tangled yoke [3] , or the mixed yoke , ( Aeshna mixta ) is a species of dragonfly from the yoke family ( Aeshnidae ).

Length 56–64 mm, abdominal length 43–54 mm, hind wing 37–42 mm. [3] . Eyes touch each other. The body is variegated. On the forehead there is a T-shaped black pattern. There are blue spots on the chest at the base of the wings. The sides of the chest are brownish in color, with 2 wide isolated greenish-yellow stripes between the seams.
In males, the abdominal tergites III through VII have one pair of large blue spots on the back and one pair of narrow transverse stripes in the front, which are often yellow rather than blue. The female ovipositor is short; its posterior end does not extend beyond the last segment of the abdomen.
