The Matrosov brake is a railway brake in which the main distributor is the air distributor of the design of I.K. Matrosov . A new type of air distributor was proposed in 1926, it was distinguished by its original device compared to the Kazantsev air distributor, and by its valuable operational properties [ what? ] .
Since 1931, the Matrosov brake was installed in the brake systems of manufactured freight and passenger cars , as well as locomotives . Since 1952, the production of an air distributor designed for operation on long and heavy trains has begun, which made it possible to carry out stepless easy brake release in combination with stepwise release, which improves the controllability of train movements. Since 1959, wagons and locomotives have been equipped with an improved air distributor of the Matrosov system. Such a brake with a relatively small mass is characterized by high sensitivity and ease of operation.
