Monument to Philip Orlik (Kiev)

The competition for the projects of the monument began in 2006, however, direct work began only in 2011 after the judges of the Constitutional Court addressed the president with a request to expedite the construction of the cultural object on the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine ^[1] .

On June 24, 2011, on the day of the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine, the grand opening of the monument took place in Kiev ^{[1] [2]} .

The monument was created by the team of sculptors, people's artist of Ukraine, full member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine A. Kushch and Honored Architect of Ukraine, member of the Academy of Architecture O. Stulakova ^[3] .

The monument is a cultural composition consisting of two elements: a monument to the hetman and Cossack paraphernalia - a bandura is installed on the pedestal, a torn developing flag, as well as Cossack sabers on the pedestal ^[1] .

Orlik is depicted in a rich robe of the 18th century, his left hand rests on a stand with papers and a mace, and a feather in his right hand. According to Kushch, clothes and attributes are historically identical. The patrimonial coat of arms of the hetman was also installed on the pedestal of the monument ^[1] .

The cultural composition is made of bronze and granite. It is located in such a way that between the monument to Orlik and the flag there is a passage beyond which the square begins ^[1] .
