Drencha Monastery

Drencha Monastery ( Serb. Manastir Drenca ), or Dusmanitsa [1] ( Serb. Manastir Dusmanica ) in honor of the Entry into the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos - a female monastery of the Krusevac Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the village of Drenca of the Aleksandrovac community of the Rasinsky District of Serbia .

The monastery was first mentioned in a document dated March 2, 1382 [2] . According to him, the monastery was founded by the monk and his son hieromonk Daniel not earlier than 1379 [3] . During Turkish rule, the monastery was destroyed [2] .

From 2003 to 2006, after extensive research, the church was reconstructed. On Easter 2009, monastic life was revived in the monastery. Abbess of the monastery became Mother Superior Fotina [4] .

The monastery church was built in the Moravian style . The foundation has the shape of a shamrock. During the construction, a combination of brick, sandstone, slate, limestone and tuff was used [2] . Inside the church was painted with frescoes, but they were not preserved [1] .

The monastery is included in the list of cultural monuments of Serbia of great importance [3] .
