Monsters on Vacation 3: The Sea Calls

In 1897, Dracula, Frank, Wolffych, Mumi and Griffin, somehow disguised as people, travel by train to Budapest. However, they have to flee to the roof when they are discovered by Abraham Van Helsing, a representative of the legendary monster hunter family. The count throws friends off the train for their own safety, and he confronts the sworn enemy and wins another victory.

In the present, a few months after the events of the previous film , Dracula still manages the hotel, in which he is helped by his daughter and son-in-law. However, he begins to be sad because of his loneliness and makes an attempt to meet through a special application. Considering this to be a result of overwork, Mavis orders a large-scale ocean cruise. The next day, the whole family and the hotel’s clients arrive on the luxurious huge liner “Heritage”. Having met a young captain named Erica, Dracula falls in love with her despite the fact that he had already had a “tink” with Marta.

After greeting the guests, Eric sneaks into the secret cabin behind a secret passage, where he meets his great-grandfather - Abraham Van Helsing himself, who "replaced his failed organs with technology" and turned into a cyborg almost completely. He tells her about a long-conceived plan: to lure all the monsters into the lost Atlantis and kill them with the help of a special weapon of destruction lying in the ruins of the city. The old man also makes the great-granddaughter promise not to kill Dracula bypassing himself. Despite the promise, she tries to do this repeatedly, including during an underwater excursion.

Having failed for the fourth time, she groans with anger and frustration. This exclamation is heard by friends of Dracula and, taking it as a sign of love for him, they report "good news." Having overheard their conversation, Erica herself invites the vampire on a date, hoping this time already for success. But at dinner at the bar, when the liner stopped near the Deserted Island, the couple finds out about each other's past, and the captain penetrates her "gentleman" with sympathy and even sympathy. They are caught by Mavis, who begins to suspect something.

The ship reaches Atlantis, and happy monsters run to try their luck in a huge casino. Dracula decides to tell her daughter the truth about her new love, but suddenly sees Erica walking into the underground labyrinth and follows her, not knowing that Mayvis is spying on both of them. Near the long staircase, the captain, having discovered an unexpected companion, on the move gives out the Cannon of Destruction, which she needs to pick up, as a “family relic” and, having counted that the loving possessor of immortality can save her from the many ancient traps set there, with his help he gets to the pedestal , where the artifact comes from. When both return to the shore of a small lake, Mavis finds them and, thinking that Erica is killing her father (she helped him to get the stuck ax out of his head), he attacks her. Dracula admits that it is "tink." Having learned what it is, a young woman, being completely confused, rejects his feelings and leaves, leaving the Count with a broken heart.

In the secret cabin, she hands the jubilant great-grandfather Cannon. Soon, the monsters are promised a disco where everyone but Dracula has fun. Noticing this, Mayvis, who received wise advice from Johnny, advises her father to speak with her lover. As soon as he agrees, Van Helsing drops the DJ from a shell on a dais in the middle of the square and publicly opens his incognito, forcing the great-granddaughter to do the same. Having removed the music sheet from the artifact, he plays a melody on the synthesizer that zombies the local resident - a cheerful and friendly Kraken, turning it into a killing machine and forcing him to squeeze the count in tentacles. At a decisive moment, Eric races to the rescue of a recent enemy and saves him by tearing him out of captivity. At the edge of the abyss, she yells to Abraham that he was wrong about the monsters and that she managed to fall in love with Dracula. An angry old man tells Kraken to attack both of them.

Realizing what is needed to neutralize this aggression, Johnny takes his portable DJ kit and, taking his father-in-law as an assistant, puts down various songs. Between opponents there is a “battle of DJs”; as a result, Macarena wins, returning the octopus to its normal state. Everyone dances to this music, including even Van Helsing, who slips and falls into the abyss. Dracula rushes after him and pulls him upstairs. Touched by this kindness and generosity, Abraham apologizes to the monsters and promises to pay them 37% of the costs, to everyone's glee. The ship leaves the city.

It takes a few days. Three days later, upon returning to his native hotel, Dracula takes Eric to the roof and makes her an offer. She gives consent.

The cartoon received average ratings from film critics. According to the Rotten Tomatoes aggregator , the picture has 60% positive reviews based on 111 reviews ^[8] . On Metacritic - 54 points out of 100 based on 23 reviews ^[9] .

Rewards

On February 26, 2019, Sony Pictures Animation announced that the fourth film from this franchise was already under development and should be released on December 21, 2021 ^[11] .
