Timeyavin [1] ( Arabic: تيمياوين ) is a small town and commune in southern Algeria , in the province of Adrar . It is part of the Bordj Badji Mokhtar district .

Geographical position
The city is located in the southeastern part of vilayet, in the central part of the Sahara desert , near the state border with Mali , at a distance of about 1800 kilometers south of the capital of Algeria . The absolute height is 576 meters above sea level [2] .
The commune of Timeyevin borders on the commune of Bordj-Badji-Mokhtar , as well as the territory of the Tamanrasset vilayet and the territory of Mali. Its area is 12 553 km².
Climate
The climate of the city is characterized as arid ( BWh in the Köppen climate classification ). Precipitation during the year is practically absent (average annual amount - 54 mm). The average annual temperature is 27.4 ° C [3] .
Population
According to the official census of 2008, the population of the commune was 16,437 people. The proportion of the male population was 51.35%, the female - 48.65%, respectively [4] . The literacy rate of the population was 63.5%. The literacy rate among men was 70.9%, among women - 56% [5] . 0.4% of the residents of Timeyavin had higher education, 2.3% - secondary education [6] .
