The Shalinsky State Zoological Hunting Reserve is a 6,000-hectare wildlife sanctuary in the Shali urban district of the Sverdlovsk Region . The reserve was organized on November 11, 1957 [1] .

The reserve was created in order to acclimatize, reproduce and increase the number of beaver [2] .
The main objectives of the Reserve are:
- ensuring the integrity of natural communities, conservation and maintenance of biological diversity on the territory of the Reserve;
- ensuring compliance with the special protection of the territory of the Reserve;
- organization of special protection for beaver, mink, otter, muskrat;
- carrying out activities aimed at the reproduction of otters, minks, muskrats and other hunting resources;
- accounting for the number and physical condition of hunting resources;
- provision of measures to regulate the number of hunting resources;
- preservation of individual habitats of the eagle owl;
- environmental education of the population.
