“Understand me if you can” ( Italian: Incompresa ) - Italian-French drama of 2014 directed by Asia Argento . The script for her third full-length picture was co-written with Barbara Alberti. The main roles in the film were played by Julia Solerno, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Gabrielle Garco. The soundtrack, among others, was worked by British rock musician Brian Molko .

Content
Story
Rome, 1984 Nine-year-old Aria suffers from loneliness and misunderstanding of others, while her eccentric parents divorce with a terrible scandal. Relations with classmates also do not go well, and the only consolation for the girl is long walks along the Italian streets in the company of her beloved black cat.

Criticism
As of July 2017, the film has 6.7 points on IMDB and 6.741 on KinoPoisk. On the Metacritic service , the picture has 67 points out of 100 based on 7 reviews of film critics.
Russian critics and reviewers greeted the film, in general, complacently. Alexei Komarov from Rolling Stone magazine noted that in his new film, Asia is "more sincere, open and therefore vulnerable." [1] Olga Kasyanova, columnist for Session magazine, points out that the director has no equal in terms of therapeutic psychodrama. [2] Ivan Chuvilyaev on the site " Fontanka " notes the autobiographical tape. [3] Denis Ruzayev writes in the pages of Time-Out that the picture is less shocking than the previous works of the director “ Purple Diva ” and “ Chicks ”, but at the same time it is more eccentric. At the same time, Evgeny Ukhov from Empire criticizes the tape for “self-pity, imbalance and narcissism”. [five]
Rewards
“Understand me if you can” has 7 nominations from various film festivals and one Guglielmo Biragi award in the framework of the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists 2014, which received Julia Salerno.
The film was also nominated for the 67th Cannes Film Festival 2014 Award in the “ Special Look ” nomination, but the prize eventually went to the Hungarian film “The White God ” directed by Cornel Mundruto . [6]
