Construction
The ship was laid down on July 08, 2010, building number 01602 , on the day of the 65th anniversary of the Yantar plant, and named after him. On May 31, 2012 the ship’s hull was withdrawn from the boathouse of workshop No. 178. The launching ceremony (actually launching into the floating floating dock ) took place on December 5, 2012, and the actual launch from the dock on December 14, 2012. In May 2013, the installation of special equipment began on the ship.
March 22, 2015 went to sea for state sea trials, which were completed on April 22. After that, the preparation of the vessel for transfer to the customer was started. On May 18-19, the ship made a control exit to the sea with the state selection committee on board. Based on the results of this exit, the commission confirmed the readiness of the vessel for transfer to the customer. According to a message dated May 21, the vessel will be handed over to the customer on May 23. On May 23, it was transferred to the Russian Navy, and the Andreevsky flag was also raised on the ship.
Equipment
The vessel is designed to study the thickness of the oceans and its bottom. For this, the ship has special deep-sea inhabited and autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles, which are able to dive to a depth of about 6 thousand meters. Also, an oceanographic vessel can be used for rescue purposes, the equipment installed on it will allow searching for sunken objects on the seabed and ocean floor. A ship can take helicopters onto its board, it has a platform for take-off and landing of one helicopter.
It is inhabited autonomous deep-sea vehicles ( AHA ), the carrier of which is Amber, that are its main special equipment. Two types of AHAs can be used on a ship: project 16810 Rus and project 16811 Consul . It is reported that the ship "Yantar" of project 22010 can simultaneously carry and ensure the use of two vehicles of this type. Some sources also contain information that this ship may be the carrier of the Mir deep-sea inhabited vehicles. Autonomous deep-sea vehicles "Rus" and "Consul" are able to sink to a depth of 6000 meters and 6270 meters, respectively. The life of the devices is up to 500 dives to a depth of more than 4000 meters and 1000 dives to a depth of up to 4000 meters. Appointment of the devices "Rus" and "Consul": video filming and classification of objects located on the seabed; carrying out underwater technical works using a manipulator; inspection of underwater objects and structures; delivery to the ground or lifting to the surface of various objects weighing up to 200 kg.
Service
In October 2016, the ship conducted operations in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea in the area of the Syrian coast at the location of submarine communication lines [1] .
In March 2017, it became known that with the help of submarine unmanned aerial vehicles and the Yantar oceanographic research vessel, carrier-based Su-33 and MiG-29KR fighters lost and lost on November 14 and December 5, 2016 in flight accidents in the Mediterranean were discovered and examined. The AHA was able to remove part of the airborne equipment from the aircraft [2] .
In November 2017, it was decided to send the vessel to assist in the search for the Argentinean San Juan submarine missing in the Atlantic Ocean [3] .
