In the amateur draft of 1978 in the 5th round (total number 111) he was selected by the San Francisco Giants team. For 3 years in the club Ransom took part in 26 matches. Over 79 times he went to a bat 10 times, made wounds (one of them was a home run ), 15 hits and 6 RBI .
