USSR Women's Chess Championship 1957

USSR Women's Chess Championship 1957 - The seventeenth women's chess championship of the USSR was held from November 15 to December 16 in Vilnius .

Procedure: 3 semi-finals (Kuibyshev, Pärnu and Sverdlovsk) - 5 winners each were admitted to the finals; personally invited: K. Zvorykina, L. Rudenko (E. Bykova, L. Volpert and O. Rubtsova refused to participate); according to the candidate list, N. Voitsik was admitted to the finals.

Throughout the championship V. Borisenko and Zvorykina were the leaders, who shared 1-2 places - 12 points each; an additional match of 4 games for the title of champion was won ahead of schedule by Borisenko - 2½: 1½. 3rd place went to S. Rothare - 10½ points. All winners held the championship without defeat.

The championship was simultaneously a FIDE zonal tournament; 3 winners - Borisenko, Zvorykina and Rotare won the right to participate in the tournament of applicants .
