Joseph Asher ( Dutch: Joseph Ascher ; 1829–1869) is a composer and pianist of Jewish descent who has worked extensively in London and Paris for most of his life.

Biography
Born in the Netherlands in the family of a Khazzan , and later Cantor of London Simon Asher. He studied music y I. Mosheles , who followed from London to the Leipzig Conservatory , and then, without graduating from the Conservatory, became a student of Mendelssohn .
In 1849 he went to Paris, where a few years later he received the title of court pianist of the French Empress Eugenia . I. Asher was awarded the same distinction from the Austrian emperor and ex-Queen Isabella.
In 1865, I. Asher returned to London.
For the past two and a half years, the composer suffered from an incurable nervous disease resulting from an improper lifestyle [1] [2] and excessive musical activities.
Creativity
Author of about 2000 musical pieces for piano . A lot of small plays written by him clearly prove the originality of his talent.
His most famous works are: two mazurkas - “La perle du nord” and “Dosia”, and a sketch - “Les gouttes d'eau”. In addition, he wrote more than a hundred gallops , nocturnes , mazurkas , studies and a significant number of salon plays. His romances “Alice” and “Where art thou?” Are very popular concert pieces.
