Military commissions ( abbr. VSHK ) are public amateur formations of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, created to strengthen the front and rear ties and provide practical assistance to the Red Army from the population.
At the beginning of September 1941, a Central Commission was created to carry out front-rear relations. Accordingly, in the regions, districts and cities, the HSS emerged, which collected gifts from soldiers among the population, and organized correspondence between front-line soldiers and the rear community. The HSC organized exchanges of delegations between the front and the rear. The patriotic movement of the population to help the wounded soldiers of the Red Army was headed by the republican, regional, city and district committees for servicing the wounded and sick soldiers and commanders. In the difficult situation of the frontline territory of Ukraine, the HSC organized mass assistance to hospitals in caring for and transporting the wounded, cleaning the premises, washing and repairing clothes, supplying food, collecting medicinal plants, providing literature and the press, and the like. For the period 1941-1945, the population of Ukraine patronized 422 military hospitals (the total number of beds is 184 thousand). Public enterprises commissions were set up at enterprises, institutions, residential buildings, and collective farms to provide material assistance to the families of war veterans, war invalids, conduct monthly, ten- day , sub-community and the like with the aim of creating additional cash, food and manufactured goods funds.
