Distribution

All over the world. In Europe, about 30 species. In Turkey, 36 species [2] , in China 28 species [3] , in Neotropics 26 species [4] .

Description

Small and medium sized riders. Length 5–20 mm, with a long and very thin abdomen at the base. The metasoma attaches high on the propodeum . Antennae 14-segmented in females and 13-segmented in males. The palp formula is full: 6.4. In the fore wing, the jugal lobe and the radio medial vein are absent [3] . Inquivilin parasites or predators of bees and wasps (Höppner, 1904; Malyshev, 1966; Carlson, 1979, Jennings and Austin, 2004) [5] . Adults are found on umbelliferous flowers [6] . In their way of life, these are secondary kleptoparasitoids (or predator-inquiline) [7] or ectoparasitoids (as a synonym for the term predator; for example, Prinsloo 1985) [8] .
