Four-leafed lindenia [1] , or common lindenia [1] , ( lat. Lindenia tetraphylla ) is a species of dragonflies in the monotypic genus Lindenia from the Gomphidae family .

Systematics

The species is part of the monotypic genus Lindenia [1] . Described by Lindenia inkiti Bartenev, 1930 from Lake Inkit (Western Transcaucasia , the vicinity of Pitsunda in Abkhazia ), is the dark form of Lindenia tetraphylla [1] .

Description

Total length 69–80 mm, abdominal length 49–57 mm, hind wing 36–40 mm [1] .

Range

The Mediterranean-Central Asian species with an area divided into many small fragments [2] . On the territory of Ukraine, it was first found in 2013 - 2 males, Crimea , Theodosia City Council , Primorsky [3] [4] .

On the territory of Russia, the species was first collected at the beginning of the 20th century (1928) from the territory of Dagestan [5] , subsequently in 2007 in the Yashkul and Chernozemly districts of the Republic of Kalmykia [6] , later it was found in the Lower Volga, Astrakhan and Rostov Regions.

Biology

Flight time from June to August inclusive. A species has a tendency to migrate. It occurs in open steppes and semi-deserts with brackish water bodies - ponds and lakes. Prefers bodies of water with a weak current (mainly large lakes and rivers). It is often attached to places with extensive reed beds, but is also found on lakes with sparse vegetation [1] .
