Biography
In his youth, he wanted to learn painting from Pompeo Batoni , but the death of the master deprived him of such a possibility. Artists A.R. Mengs and H.V. Dietrich recommended B. Bossi to do the engraving .
For some time he studied and lived in Nuremberg and Dresden , but during the Seven Years War he had to leave Saxony in 1760 and go to the Duchy of Parma , where he found the patronage of the duke.
Creativity
B. Bossi is the author of works in the genres of graphics, engraving, etching, aquatint and the new small method of the French engraver Gilles Demarto .
Bossi Baroque and Classicist works are in several churches in Parma and its environs, as well as in the palaces of the duke.
So, in the Ducal Palace (Palazzo Ducale) in Parma, built in the Parco Ducale park of the same name, on the second is the Hall of Birds: here 224 birds by Bossi are painted and stuccoed.
In the engraving genre he owns: “Self-portrait”, “The Presentation” (1755), 29 tables from the drawings by Francesco Parmigianino , four works “The Seasons” (1770), etc.
He died in Parma on November 4, 1792.
